My name is Ingrīda Žagata, and I first encountered clay when I was 12 years old. Since then, ceramics has been not only my work but my way of life. I graduated from the Riga School of Design and Art in 1984, and in 2017 earned a master's degree in pedagogy from the University of Latvia. Since 1985, I have run my own ceramics workshop, located close to the Baltic Sea, surrounded by beautifully blooming meadows and forest. My work draws its inspiration from Latvian ceramic traditions and the Latvian landscape.
